Co-hosted by the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) and the South Africa Police Service in partnership with US-based UL and the International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition (IACC), the first-ever International Law Enforcement IP Crime Conference held in Cape Town, South Africa kicked off on October 22-23, 2019. This year's edition revolves around the theme of "Fighting IP Crime through Innovation and Cooperation". Representatives of Sinofaith IP Group, the conference's only long-term IP service agency partner, participated in panel discussions and addressed the conference.

The conference featured a series of plenary and panel sessions as well as a number of workshops. By sharing business research cases and viewpoints about the IP industry, developing effective law enforcement strategies and establishing partnerships in work, law enforcement departments, industry associations and corporate representatives from different countries enhanced international cooperation and exchanges in an innovative way, with an aim of jointly cracking down on IP crimes. In the meanwhile, the conference provided rights holders with an unprecedented opportunity to meet and network with front-line law enforcement officers from many countries, who represent police, customs, procuratorates and regulatory departments.

At a panel session themed on "Borderless Theft - Innovative Solutions for Free Trade Zones" held on the first day of the conference, Ms. Joann Chan, Vice President of Sinofaith, delivered a speech on "IP Protection in China's Free Trade Zones (FTZs)" to introduce China's administrative and judicial framework for IP protection in FTZs, and relevant challenges and achievements. She also joined discussions with Dr. Samir Hamrouni, CEO of the World Free Zones Organization (World FZO), Piotr Stryszowski, Senior Economist at the Public Governance and Territorial Development Directorate of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and Brigadier General Ibrahim Al Ajel, Director of Sharjah Criminal Investigation Department, the United Arab Emirates.
